Talk show queen Wendy Williams has delayed her start date in Broadway's Chicago after being sidelined by a sinus infection. Originally set to take the stage of the hit musical on Tuesday, June 25, the Broadway newcomer will now have her first bow as Matron "Mama" Morton on Friday, June 28.
Williams hosts the syndicated television talk show The Wendy Williams Show, and was a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. Prior to television, Williams was a "shock jock" on several radio shows. She gained attention for her on-air spats with celebrities, and was the subject of the 2006 VH1 reality TV series called The Wendy Williams Experience. On May 5, she hosted the 2013 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards.
The revival of Chicago, now in its 17th year, currently stars Amy Spanger as Roxie Hart, Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Alexander Gemingnani as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, Christine Pedi as Mama Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Williams is set to stay in Chicago through August 11.
